I’m sitting at a new desk in a brand-new location looking at a completely different view. Life has changed for us in the past 4 months. At the end of March we left Springwater, the church that we had co-led for several years, that taught us so much and gave us so many lovely friends.
Then we travelled for 3 months, visiting family and reconnecting with old friends. Strengthening relationships, renewing some old ones, building some new ones.
And now we find ourselves living in a beautiful part of the UK, in a small cottage surrounded by fields and flowers and trees, and 18 minutes from the beach and 30 (ish) minutes to the nearest mountain. Both of our happy places. Admittedly mine is closer…
We are right in the middle of a phase of renewing, connecting and restoring. Connecting, renewing, restoring. Restoring, renewing, connecting. All are so important as we take root into our new homeland and build Re-Conn-Tore. And the dance I mentioned in the earlier blog keeps on going (To read that blog click here). Connecting with new people and places, renewing relationships with family and friends, and all the while being restored into who we want to be. Into who we believe God wants us to be. Because if we can’t renew, connect and restore, how can we expect others to do it.
We are on a journey – that’s a common phrase these days and maybe it gets overused. But it is such a good image. A journey with ourselves, others and God – isn’t that what we are all on? I don’t want ever to feel I’ve arrived when it comes to my journey with God. I love the journey. I love the movement – always checking the map to see if I’m going in the right direction. Stopping at times to take a rest and enjoy the scenery. Trudging sometimes up a hard hill that doesn’t seem to end.
If you connect with us in Re-Conn-Tore, we will join you on your journey. And together we can push boundaries and maybe even knock down some walls that are in our way. But it will be a journey of movement and change. And we’ll be doing it together.
